The Rundown

Last night, I was channel surfing looking for something decent to watch while I cleaned out the fridge and emptied the dishwasher; when it became apparent that there were no good shows on T.V., I settled for one on FX called The Rundown.

I didn't pay that close of attention to it until the end - I just had it on as background noise, mostly. I've heard of it before, but never seen it - never had the desire. I don't usually go for action movies - with the exception of classics like the Bourne movies and Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, and I've seen maybe one Bond movie. My point is, I don't usually watch this type of show.

And now I think I'm hooked.

Not because of the star of the show - although I've considered seeing whatever movies The Rock" is in, just because he's in them, and he's nice to look at (and let's be honest, I still can't get over the image in my head of him in his WWF days, in little shorts and screaming 'Can you SMMMMEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLL what The Rock is cooking?').

It's also not the plot of the movie, which was actually really lame. The Rock plays a character named Beck, who's a bounty hunter, and while he's big and tough and scary to fight, he A) doesn't ever use guns, and B) is a master chef. What the...?? He's the most un-wussy wuss I've ever watched! So obviously there was an element of comedy to it - his side-kick was Sean William Scott, a very funny guy. (Plus it was funny to hear my brother Shawn laugh at it!)
No, the reason I liked it was the choreographed gunfight scenes!! It was like watching Jackie Chan in the Rush Hour films. Totally planned down to the smallest detail, predictable, and EXCITING. I loved it! I dropped whatever I was doing in the kitchen to watch Beck weigh his determination to never use guns with the cries of a friend screaming for help, and haul out of his hiding place with guns blazing and takes the enemy down. It was AWESOME.

Man, my heart's racing just thinking about it!

And THAT is why you are 100% date-able. Will you go out with me? (except I mean, well...you have to watch chic flics with me. But if I were a guy...)

Ah, man that show was excellent. And let's be honest, how often do we watch comedies for the plot, though they sometimes do surprise us?

And of course... THE ROCK. I miss those WWF days.
